I have to say that the owner of this pub has been doing a fine job over the last year in reshaping the place into a potentially fine live music venue attracting the best local upcoming indie bands and stand up comedy acts.

I for one won’t be put off from enjoying visits to my only proper local indie music venue combined with public house as I know this kind of incident is an exception. Yes, the Grove Tavern has always been known as “A Fighting Pub” but the current owners have been working hard to shed that reputation and I would say that largely they have been successful.

I shall continue to support my local music live act venue by appearing (not on stage yet) to enjoy an evening of free stand up comedy hosted by Wimbledon Bob tonight. His nights are free to anyone and are called, “One foot in the Grove”

Saturday’s turn of events was extreme and thankfully exceptional in severity. My thoughts are with the innocent people who got caught up in the melee and indeed anyone who suffered distress or injury. Sometimes there’s no accounting for  people’s actions and in hindsight on this occassion I was thankful that I still smoke as I had popped across the road to get some tobacco when upon my return all hell had broken loose.

As I’ve already stated Saturday night’s scenes were an exception. Keep up the good work J & J.
